Our latest LIVE HAPPY! mini documentary features Gabriella Hoffman (@gabriella_hoffman), a freelance Media Strategist based in the Washington DC metro area. Patti’s daughter Madison (@itsmadisonhughes) had the opportunity to work closely with Gabriella over the last year producing films together. They formed a special relationship, and we couldn’t wait for Madison to create a LIVE HAPPY! mini documentary on Gabriella.
Gabriella works primarily in politics, but is also an award-winning Outdoor Writer. She has been writing since she was 15 years old, but her writing career really took off about 10 years ago when she started to work on Capitol Hill as a Reporting Intern. Within the span of the last 10 years, Gabriella has had awesome opportunities to be able to sit down and talk with heavyweight politicians, newsmakers, and business owners. Because of her vast experience, Gabriella is in a position where she can craft narratives and tell untold stories.
For Gabriella, writing is a way she expresses herself. Early in her writing career, Gabriella didn’t like the English language and struggled with grammar and syntax. She says, “I got the confidence from a teacher in the 9th grade, and my writing through the years has drastically improved. It really does give you a voice.” Finding a way to express your voice is extremely important… we believe you should always be yourself and do what you love!
Gabriella says, “Everyone wants to be like someone else… If you don’t craft your own writing style and your own voice, it really is hard for you to stick out.” Being your unique, authentic self is more valuable than anything. Gabriella writes a mix of opinion editorials and news, so she tries to be serious and punchy, but at the same time tries not to alienate people in her writing. She says, “Developing your own unique voice is super critical, whether you put a pen to paper, draft an article online, speak before large audiences, or if you’re posting on social media.”
The Natural Life Mantra resonates with Gabriella, her favorite phrase is “Live Happy!” She says, “Life is too short to be upset… we have so few days on this earth… I recommend living happy!” We love this! Living happy and knowing that kindness really does matter can change your perspective on life and can make the world a better place!
